The article, “Reasonable Safety” of Existing Structures, Part 4: A New Hope”, is the final part in a four-part series by authors David G. Tepke, Liying Jiang, Keith E. Kesner, and Stephen S. Szoke. The authors provide some final words on evaluating “reasonable safety” of existing structures through condition assessment. They discuss the impact of paradigm changes for evaluating structures and safety and explore advancing trends and technologies that will carry the industry into the future, providing “a new hope. [1]

In the feature, the Proceq GP8000 GPR can be seen (page 49, fig 4) being used to demonstrate the representation of reinforcing steel in a concrete slab using ground penetrating radar, with data results showing standard and processed images.
